CSI sponsors Lyman Allyn Art
Museum Gala Fundraiser
Lyman Allyn hosted their annual Gala, held on
May 9 and themed “Dangerous Women” after the 19th century
portrait of Abigail Dolbeare Hinman holding a musket to keep
Benedict Arnold’s army at bay, with great success. Attendees
dined in the museum’s fancifully-decorated galleries and danced
outdoors under a tent in the Foo Dog Courtyard. With newscaster
Janet Peckinpaugh serving as emcee, the event raised a record
$34,000 for their Yellow Bus Fund which enables the Lyman Allyn
to bus in schoolchildren on field trips from area schools, free
of charge. CSI had a wonderful time and hopes to make this
an annual sponsorship and is very grateful opportunities such as
these arise.

John Makara made a further contribution by
winning one of these unique pieces in the silent auction.
Five hand-blown glass bowls were auctioned by renowned Old
Saybrook glass artist Mundy Hepburn. Hepburn is the nephew
of the late actress Katharine Hepburn, and each bowl is named
for a movie in which his aunt starred.
